AMT is doing really exciting stuff with kids. They are working on creatinga steady group of kids & parents 2 sunday afternoons (1st, 3rd). The one I was at was very well attended and lots of energy.

(Only the crass would point out the revenue provided is a Good Thing...)

aaron's photobot would be a good kit to exchange with them - I think we should consider getting one each of their kits (most of the soldering kits are adafruit; jameco has a lot of good ones).

I would also like a brainstorming session on what kind of kits we could create, then test them out. Does not need to have electronics - the judobots are very popular. One from the Maker Faire was a box with some stuff in it && a goal (make a boat to float this thing). (I have an example, although the goal is missing.)

Hello Hacker Scouts!

We have another Open Lab coming up this Sunday 12/2 from 2-5pm at AMT. You can read the full description here: http://hackerscouts.acemonstertoys.org/?p=169 Our featured project will be making Brush Bots (like Hex Bugs) and building habitats. Also- Lino Cuts, and Pop-Up/Light-Up Cards.

We had a really great Hacker Scouts Guild meeting tonight, where some of the mentors shared the things they make (robots, printmaking, chemistry) and the kids got a tour of the space to identify and ask questions about the tools they will be using. Guild meetings will take place on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm and is for ages 8 and up. Next meeting the kids will be sharing some of their own projects or projects they are interested in doing, the meeting after that they begin building their hackerling circuits.
