I would like a roughly 20 Ohm resistor, rated for 5W or more. Any idea how I could find or make such a resistor? Resistive heat wire from a broken toaster?

Looks like stainless steel is somewhat resistive. I'll go test the spool of SS wire on the bench...

Used the toaster element. Wrapped it around some of that toaster micah-like board. Attached with Kapton tape. Now we have a swell 10 ohm power resistor. When I'm done testing the smoker controller, I can put it back in the resistor box by the electronics bench.
