TL;DR: John Hawley’s Artemis 2.0 will be at Albuquerque Mini Maker Faire, we will be running it, and we need your help!
Albuquerque Mini Maker Faire is just around the corner – September 13th & 14th! One of the features of this year’s MMF is John Hawley’s Artemis 2.0 setup.
Some background: Years and years ago, Thom Robertson dreamed of hooking his & his friends’ Commodore 64 computers together for networked game play. Years and years later, he decided to make that a reality. The result is Artemis, the spaceship bridge simulator! Basically, you & five of your friends can get together & play Star Trek^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H space adventures!
In 2013, Greg from the Albuquerque Comic Expo partnered with Quelab to build a starship bridge to bring the Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator to life. John designed & led the build that Quelab did, and a team of Quelabbers ran it at ACE 2013. Pictures of the construction were uploaded to the Quelab Flickr feed, and you can see the USS Q Maden Flight, Quelab Artimis Starship Bridge in Action @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?
Well, John loves progress and has built Artemis 2.0, and is bringing it to this year’s Albuquerque Mini Maker Faire, AND he needs Quelab’s help to run it.
I am soliciting volunteers to help run the Artemis Spaceship Bridge at ABQ MMF 2014; duties will include manning the reservations table to sign up teams, familiarizing new teams with the program & helping oversee each mission run. Right now we are planning to follow the same format we followed @ ACE 2013, with hour blocks reserved netting approximately 30 to 40 minutes of actual game play.
